the desecrated flag video is finalist for obama’s healthcare reform
October 29, 2009
have you seen it? if you have, then you’ll understand perfectly why this video by los angeles ’street artist’, saber, is one of 20 finalists chosen in the dnc’s ‘Health Reform Video Challenge’. but apparently a contestant whose video didn’t make the final-20 is complaining that a video ‘defacing the flag’ won’t do much to help obama or the democrats sell health care reform to the country.
frankly, what the the complainer says is true. mainstream americans will hate this. but his comment is naive. of course the video below should be in the dnc’s top 20! it demonstrates exactly the way progressives, who are now in charge, see our country.
could someone please tell the progressive vermin in dc that desecration of anything isn’t hip? by the way, judges for the winning video include dnc chairman tim kaine, obama campaign chief david plouffe, and rep. patrick murphy (d-pa.).
un.stinking.believable.

They don’t love the country. They don’t believe we’re exceptional. They don’t believe in Ameritocracy. We let them in the front door of our country and now it will take some sort of political revolution of hearts and minds to get these subversives out.

There is NO desecration here. You people will stoop to new lows to make sure that the poorest in this country go un-insured. I really dislike conservatives.
October 29th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Well Jane of course from a socialist’s point of view it WOULDN’T be a desecration. This is disgusting. According to the DNC website, the video was selected by a group “comprised of DNC employees.”

I appreciate the first amendment and how it protects freedom of speech but does that make it ok to trash the flag? If it were Mexico’s flag everyone would be upset. The sad thing is it’s being *promoted* by one of the 2 parties in this country. You’re right Kate. It’s un*stinking*believable.
October 29th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Jane how is it not desecration? Explain to me please. It’s beyond disgusting.
October 29th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
It’s not just a Democrat problem. That’s way too easy. Both the Democrats and the Republicans can’t be trusted. Both seem to completely ignore the wishes of the American people.
October 29th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Oh pleeez people! It’s a graffiti video promoting HCR for those most vulnerable! You righties and your hyper patriotism is nauseating. I can see Glen “Crybaby” Beck wiping a tear away even now.
Rope if you are so offended, you tell us why its desecration.
October 29th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
actually the most vunerable already have federal coverage. children under schip and the disabled under medicaid.
only those over 25 who make more than 200% of the Federal poverty guidelines and choose not to buy insurance
or
illegal aliens
are pretty much on their own. even they get emergency care and often state benefits. i just helped a legal alien get free care in illinois. she stayed in a hospital for a week. the cost was zero to her.
October 29th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
flag desecration is covered as freedom of speech.
the democrats can do it if they want to.
strangely, you may not desecrate a gay pride flag. that is considered hate speech.
October 29th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
file under things you never thought you would see …
obama is saluting our dead.
and
almost doing it correctly. that is a fairly good salute for a civilian actually, especially when you consider he was never in the armed services.

Jane said: There is NO desecration here. You people will stoop to new lows to make sure that the poorest in this country go un-insured. I really dislike conservatives.
So - graffiti all over a flag - even a painting of one - isn’t desecration? So you’d clearly be OK if someone spray painted their opinions all over any U.S. flag you see.
I really dislike your kind of liberal.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
There ya go penni, part of the United States flag code. Section 8 to be exact. What’s sad is the people like you having to ask why its dececration.

Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989)
democrats are absolutely allowed to desecrate the usa flag if they want to under the first amendment
and they want to
October 29th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
and they want you to buy them free health insurance too
October 29th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
AHA Texas v Johnson, the flag burning case. 5-4 vote in the supreme court saying burning the flag is freedom of speech. Sad really.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
OH yes Marsha, if it had been the mexican flag or another can you imagine the uproar. I remember the three people that tore down and burned the rainbow flag in Ohio. They were promptly arrested and charged with arson and disorderly conduct. Go Figure.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
that was hate speech
October 29th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
“There is NO desecration here. You people will stoop to new lows to make sure that the poorest in this country go un-insured. I really dislike conservatives.”
Hmmm…lets see.
If someone spray painted my house or a church like that it would be considered desecration, right ?
So how is this a$$hole not desecrating the flag ?
The poorest in this country can already get insurance if they wanted to.
Its the middle class liberal bums who would rather someone else pay for it that are demanding it.
Wise up.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
“America, the red, white, and blue, we spit on you, you stand for plunder, you will go under. That’s what Johnson said when he burned the flag. Hate speech hmmmmm?
October 29th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
but micky, they would rather you pay for it
oh
and
free medical marijuana covered by the government option
and
some walking around money — for when they get the munchies

“obama is saluting our dead.”
He wasn’t saluting the dead, lisa, he was using them as a prop.
His dislike, as well as the rest of the dems, for our military is obvious. This is an attempt to quell all the criticism about his procrastinating on Afghanistan.
Notice this part from the article you linked:
“Mr. Bush said he felt the appropriate way to show his respect was to meet with family members in private.”
Using our war dead to milk a few extra points for his popularity is not honoring them.
He’s such a lowlife.

“If someone spray painted my house or a church like that it would be considered desecration, right ?”
Wrong. It’s call vandalism. You wise up. Idiot boy.
October 29th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Hey, pennie.
Everyone always comes into these discussions on a civil note except for your idiot ass who always starts calling names first.
Main Entry: des·e·crate
Pronunciation: \ˈde-si-ˌkrāt\
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): des·e·crat·ed; des·e·crat·ing
Etymology: de- + -secrate (as in consecrate)
Date: 1675
1 : to violate the sanctity of : profane
2 : to treat disrespectfully, irreverently, or outrageously
— des·e·crat·er or des·e·cra·tor \-ˌkrā-tər\ noun
Spray painting my house would fall under the description of desecration since it most definately be disrespectful.
Wise up idiot bitch.
And go get yourself a dictionary while you’re at it.

Oh, and Pennie & all you other HCR supporters, lisab had it right when she said, quite well:
“actually the most vunerable already have federal coverage. children under schip and the disabled under medicaid. Only those over 25 who make more than 200% of the Federal poverty guidelines and choose not to buy insurance or illegal aliens are pretty much on their own. even they get emergency care and often state benefits. i just helped a legal alien get free care in illinois. she stayed in a hospital for a week. the cost was zero to her.”
Now, what about this EXISTING SITUATION described by lisab ISN’T adequate enough?? If not OVERLY adequate (as illegals are getting covered too!!! …now… at this time… before any further legislation…. NOW, you understand…)
October 29th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
On the flag matter, I don’t feel that the use of the American flag as a vehicle to discuss this giant matter of the HCR bill is intended to be offensive, although it may be offensive to some.
Graffiti is apparently being treated in this video as a way for the allegedly “urban poor” to “discuss” the matter by ‘tagging’ a painted flag on a city wall. I can see on a basic level how this could be perceived as artistic/witty/appropriate.
Either way, it is an exercise of the 1st Amendment and therefore is permitted.
MY BEEF isn’t with free speech of others. MY BEEF is with the CONTENT of the message. (Look to my previous post above.) MY BEEF is that the gov’ment is basically trying to lay the groundwork for the eventual “taking over” of health care BY THE GOVERNMENT. Something the federal government is not empowered to do!!
November 10th, 2009 at 11:17 pm
United States is the single richest country in the world with a health care system that is ranked 37th. 37th!!! This country doesn’t care for its sick. It gets rich off them or forces them into bankruptcy.
But people rather talk about dems and republicans and liberals and conservative.
