turkey. football. mashed potatoes. football. gramma jenna’s homemade pecan pie. flag football in the rain. homemade stuffing with sausage. the best homemade rolls…

…and giving thanks to god for our many blessings; for our great land; and our military serving in far away places.

and lest you think i am simply a vapid blogging princess, here is my own recipe for chocolate zucchini cake:

kate’s chocolate zucchini cake

ingredients:

½ c. margarine
2½ c. flour
½ c. oil
4 T. cocoa
1¾ c. sugar
½ t. cinnamon
2 eggs
1 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1 t. baking soda
½ c. buttermilk
1 t. baking powder
2 c. grated zucchini

directions:

combine margarine, oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. stir flour, cocoa, cinnamon, salt, soda, and baking powder together; add to creamed mixture. stir in zucchini. pour batter into greased 9” X 13” pan.

now, sprinkle ¾ c. of each of the following on top: chocolate chips, brown sugar, and chopped nuts. preheat your oven to 350 F. and bake for 40-45 minutes.

on this day, we, as americans, set aside our differences. i hope your thanksgiving is filled with much joy and gratitude.

lisab’s best liberal brownies — they always disappear quickly at parties

    1 pound unsalted butter
1 pound plus 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
    6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
    6 large eggs
    3 tablespoons powdered instant expresso
    2 tablespoons vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    3 cups chopped pecans pieces

preheat the oven to 350 degrees. grease and flour a 12×18-inch jelly-roll pan. set aside.

melt together the butter, pound of chocolate chips, and unsweetened chocolate until smooth in the top of a double boiler. cool to room temperature. combine, but do not whisk, the eggs, powdered espresso, vanilla, and sugar. stir in the cooled chocolate mixture. Set aside. sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix into the batter. finally, fold in the remaining chocolate chips and the walnuts. Pour into the greased pan.

bake about 30 minutes, or until a tester just comes out clean.

Love your blog! The Obama’s ARE rather low on the class scale. And it has nothing to do with the color of their skin. As Americans we are taught to be proud of our country, and they are destroying it. But God is in charge, and I’m sure thankful for that. Blessings on you and yours. (o:
