obama goes nuclear, er, ‘up and down vote’ on healthcare

blech. he’s on my tv again. surrounded by his stagecraft, he trots out the stepford doctors and nurses again. and of course ‘the devoted’ gathered to hear him speak, gave The One a standing ovation. he preened, smiling smugly, as he told all of us that the democrats were going to ram their healthcare reform bill down our throats even though we have been vehemently and vocally opposed to it for almost a year. barack obama himself has pushed the button on the nuclear option, disguising it as ‘a simple up and down vote’.
gop leaders supposedly aren’t giving up without a fight. senator john thune, of south dakota, says:
“I don’t want to concede that it’s going to pass for sure yet,” Thune said. “I still think that there’s a lot of clock left in this game.”
republicans will try to use points of order and other procedural maneuvers to slow or stall the hcr bill down. will it make a difference? it might if the citizenry continue to make themselves heard, in an effort to stop this really horrible bill from passing.

Obama said “I don’t know how this plays politically, but I know it’s right”. I’ll tell him what it means politically…we’re gonna go nuclear on his cronies in 2010 and on him in 2012. I’ve had it with him and so has many, many others.

This press conference or announcement this morning was laughable if I wasn’t crying about it. Just the very nature of the way they are attempting to pass this bill should make everyone, EVERYONE, skeptical. This is NOT an emergency, it is NOT a crisis, it is not even the most pressing issue of the day or of the last year. Jobs are. The Economy is. Yet Democrats and President Obama refuse to let Health Care Reform go. 52% of the American people, according to Gallup, are against this bill. It’s higher in other polling.
We need to start over and find real common ground with the GOP on the reform that WE ALL know we need. I know it can be done better and I’d still like to have some faith in the Obama presidency.

1) We are FAR from “do nothing crybabies”. (Have you heard or seen nothing of the Tea Party movement?? MILLIONS and MILLIONS of American citizens GOing places to protest & raise issues; DOing things like meeting with their Representatives & Senators; WRITIng letters and MAKEing phone calls - ACTIVELY contacting their representatives. VOTIng in people like Scott Brown (R) in Massachusetts.) These are the ACTIONS that are available to the American public - and WE ARE D-O-I-N-G THEM.
2) We are not “crying in our beer”. See above. …What? Would you expect us to simply sit quietly and let the unAmerican power-grabbing to just proceed without challenge?? You think the American people are that dense??
3) We are not going to let a setback like the election of BHO deter our dedication to our country, INALIENABLE RIGHTS and to FREEDOM & LIBERTY in general. “…things are different now. get used to it…” is a childish plea for us to simply “leave you alone”. I’ve got some things to say about this nuclear option that could get pulled off and how you guys were pitching fits when the right proposed it. I also honestly do hope this gets passed because in no time it will spell out for the people just how stupid it will be to ever let the left have this much power again.

Nothing but fear mongering and stupidity here. HCR is one of the most needed services in our country right now and most of you here are too dumb to know it. The President has been kowtowed by the Tea Baggers into not fighting for the Public Option in the hope that by getting “something” into law, that can be tacked on later.
First let me say this bill will pass so STFU already. Secondly, it is NOT what Obama’s base wanted. We hate this bill but it’s better then nothing. I fear we have lost our window to do it the right way and get a viable, strong public option into play. That’s Obama’s fault. Tea Baggers march and yell and the Dems run for cover. It is interesting to me to see conservatives talk about cleaning out the RINO’s in Congress because we true Progressives feel exactly the same way about the moderates and Blue Dogs like Bayh. Believe me, we WILL clean house too.
