franklin graham, the pentagon and islam
April 23, 2010
the US army is stupidly un-inviting evangelist franklin graham to speak at the pentagon’s national day of prayer service on may 6th because apparently the army brass (or someone higher up) doesn’t like that graham considers the ‘religion of peace’ - islam - violent.
here’s what franklin graham, whose organization ’samaritan’s purse’ has done incredible humanitarian work around the world including in muslim countries, said:
what did franklin graham say that wasn’t true? was it this?
“I want them to know that they don’t have to die in a car bomb, don’t have to die in some kind of holy war to be accepted by God.”
or this?
“I love the people of Islam but their religion, I do not agree with their religion at all. And if you look at what the religion does just to women, women alone, it is just horrid. And so yes, I speak out for women. I speak out for people that live under Islam, that are enslaved by Islam and I want them to know that they can be free.”
it is not more then a wee bit disturbing that a citizen - a minister of the gospel - does a much better job at identifying our enemy then the pc army brass mandated to defend this country? but what do we expect when we have a defense department that operates under the direction of an administration that appeases our enemies and shuns our allies.
btw, franklin graham regrets that the army brass at the pentagon is so stupid right now but he stands by his comments.

Great interview by Mr. Graham. He told it like it is and didn’t back down. God bless his ministry & charitable work (and true concern for people & women).

Love Franklin Graham! And this is why I have donated to “Samaritan’s Purse” for the last 7 years!
Without malice, he described the problems with Islam in a clear, rational way.
Pray, today, my friends! Reverend Graham may have been disinvited to the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer, but that will not stop him and other Christians in this country from praying today!

Amen, Paula! True!

Hi, just found this while surfing the web. I think it is great that Franklin Graham uses donated money to help troubled places but I do see how his words would not be appropriate in this instance. He has the right to express his view and probably does but his words should not be linked to the government. With soldiers fighting in areas where Islam is the predominant religion the last thing I would want is for them to think we are on a crusade to convert them. What I would like to see is a person of belief stand and say that the violent portions of all religions are antiquated and that the world is more in need of the parts that advocate peace.

Sounds fairly logical. Any other/additional opinions?

i am a former peace corps volunteer.
do not confuse democrat with libera
liberals would never try to steal an election, intimidate voters, take over your health care … the whole point of being a liberal is personal freedom
the dems want government control over everything
(oh, and i am a lefty too … )

lisa,
Generally speaking, I am ALSO a “Peace-loving”, “world-kissing”, “tree-hugging”, let’s-just-all-get-along type!! : ) I congratulate all of us that are - afterall, that’s a good thing to be, really. I approach those values from a conservative angle, as you know. : D
I agree that stealing elections, intimidating voters, taking over healthcare & the like are completely against liberty & personal freedom AND against fairness & what this constitutional republic is all about - whether by the DEMS or the REPUBS. True!
Hopefully we ca put an end to all that BS and keep this country free! : )
