MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Democrat Al Franken beat Republican incumbent Norm Coleman to win the U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota, officials conducting a final recount said on Monday, though the loser promised to challenge the result.

The outcome found Franken edged Coleman by 225 votes out of nearly 2.9 million votes cast, but Coleman’s lawyers complained the recount was conducted unfairly and promised a court contest that could take weeks to resolve.

well, if it’s any consolation, we in oregon sent this idiot instead of senator gordon smith.  bah!

Well, we lost Elizabeth Dole down here in NC. Looks like ignorance knows no state borders! But, Franken takes the cake. Must be all of that cold weather in Minnesota, don’t forget they elected Jesse Ventura as governor once too.

This of all the incumbent losses bothers me the most because its Al Franken; a sexist, racist, foul mouth, joker of child molestation who is one of the most ridiculous choices for an elected official I have ever seen.

Minnesota deserves better but they made their bed.

I’d like to think it’s not over til it’s over. When he’s sitting in Norm Coleman’s office, then it’s over.

If Coleman couldn’t beat a carpet bagging comedian then he didn’t deserve the job. So my esteemed colleagues on the right: stop sniveling and accept it. You lost.
